I have been making progress with both orientating new members as well as
signing new members up to be dues paying members. Educating new hires as
soon as possible is important. Hearing key points on the contract as well as
department policies are necessary when first starting a new job. I will continue
to hold orientations at the hospital monthly, as well as weekly visits.
Orientations in Building Services are held bi-weekly. I will send this information
out to Building Services employees so that if anyone has not had an orientation
with the union, they can take advantage of it. While I am not allowed in specific
work areas, I am happy to meet with any of you at a designated location or you
can make an appointment to meet with me at the union office.
Still working on updating the union boards. I will be adding pictures and email
addresses for all officers and Chief Stewards.to the boards as well. This will
help the members to get to know their representatives with a face and not just
by name.
You may see me in your area over the next few weeks I will be taking pictures
for the upcoming AFSCME website. I want to showcase our members in their
work environment. We do make Michigan Move and I believe that it's important
to showcase the people who do the work.
Site visit- Flint campus on November 15, 2023. I will be scheduling more visits
on campus in the coming month.
District Stewards are needed on Central Campus! Please Join the team!
As a District Steward, you will assist your fellow union members, Chief
Stewards, and your Union when you become part of the team. If you are
interested in joining, please email Angela Dameron, President,
[email protected] or contact the union office at, 734-480-1300.
Chief Stewards are in the office on Fridays and available to answer your
questions, 12pm-2pm.
There is strength in numbers! As a member in good standing, you can hold
office, vote for your elected officials as well as vote on contracts and attend
union meetings. Please check your email for upcoming informational
meetings, or site visits to secure a membership card.
